Heart Disease

Heart Diseases or cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) include a group of disorders that develop in the heart and blood vessels. These are the prime cause of death among a large proportion of the population all over the world.

The most common ailment of the heart is coronary artery disease. It causes a reduced flow of oxygen in the heart muscle, decreasing the oxygen that it requires. An irregular beating pattern of the heart may be caused by a disease called Heart Arrhythmias which can further cause several heart problems such as heart failure, heart valve disease, etc.

We are committed to spreading awareness about the symptoms, risks and prevention of heart diseases. For this purpose, we conduct research, awareness drives, fun runs and rallies regularly. We channel our donations, to various research programs, dedicated to studying heart diseases, associated complications and treatments.

Besides a well-established treatment and prevention system, we provide our patients with the best support and services, by advising them on everything- from possible treatment options to the long-term lifestyle changes one must undergo to prevent heart diseases and counsel them for the future.

DID YOU KNOW THAT HEART DISEASE IS THE LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH, CAUSING ABOUT 1 IN 4 DEATHS?

Various types of heart diseases include:
  • Coronary Heart Disease – a disease of the blood vessels supplying the heart muscle
  • Cerebrovascular Disease – a disease of the blood vessels supplying the brain
  • Peripheral Arterial Disease – a disease of blood vessels supplying the arms and legs
  • Rheumatic Heart Disease – damage to the heart muscle and heart valves from Rheumatic fever, caused by streptococcal bacteria
  • Congenital Heart Disease – birth defects that affect the normal development and functioning of the heart caused by malformations of the heart structure from birth

Heart attacks or strokes are usually caused by a blockage that prevents blood flow to the heart or brain. This mostly occurs due to a build-up of fatty deposits on the inner walls of the blood vessels that supply blood to the heart or brain. Strokes can also be caused by bleeding from a blood vessel in the brain or from blood clots.
